The “DahlHouse”

December 2011 – Erin Borges of Erin Borges Designs contacts me after seeing my invitation line on Etsy.  We discussed her vision and the creativity bloomed.  Months of trial and error and here’s the finished invitation.  It’s a pop-up doll house!  Open the invitation and the three dimensional house stands erect, complete with layered shingled roof, shutters, curtains, and shrubs.  Each invitation took over 2 hours to cut and assemble.  The finished product is something I’m very proud of.

Erin’s amazing creativity caught attention and the event was published on the Hostess With The Mostess Blog.  She thought of everything and her attention to detail is second to none.  Be sure to visit the link below to see the photos from the event.  Her ideas and ingenuity are inspiring!

Please note as you look at the photos – this venue was and empty building used for parties at a public park.  The front facade of the building was built by Erin and her team.  All elements inside and out are paper or cardboard!  I engineered and created the cardboard “faux” cabinets in the kitchen – complete with paper flower pulls.  I shipped everything flat and Erin and her team assembled the kitchen on site.  LOVE IT!

I create invitations because I love working with paper but more than that, I love being a part of special celebrations in people’s lives.  How lucky was I to be able to be a part of Dahlia’s First Birthday!  I only wish I was able to attend the event too 🙂
